Criteria and Procedure for Applying for Ship’s License of Non-fishing Vessel (First Issue)

     Vessels used in Thai waters must be licensed unless the vessel is specified under the Thai waters Navigation Act, B.E. 2456 (1913), Section 137, together with the Ministerial Regulations prescribing criteria, procedures, and conditions for obtaining and issuing a ship’s license and insurance for passenger vessels, B.E. 2552 (2009), Clause 4. The owner of the vessel who wishes to apply for a ship’s license must submit an application to the Port Authority or the competent officer appointed for registration, in accordance with the form announced by the Director-General of the Port Authority. For passenger vessels, the insurance contract and insurance policy must be submitted as supporting documents for license application. The vessel license must be valid for not more than 12 months. The license for a passenger vessel must be valid for not longer than the term of the insurance policy, and not exceeding 12 months from the date of issuing the license under the Ministerial Regulation and Insurance for Passenger Vessels, B.E. 2552 (2009), Clause 8.    

The procedures for applying for a ship’s license (first issue) in the case of non-fishing vessels are as follows: 

1. Inspect the completeness of documents by officials of the Port Authority;

2. Review and consider the documents:

• • Checking the vessel’s name and issuing the number of the ship’s license;
  • Collecting fees and recording data into the ship registration system;
  • Printing the ship’s license.

3. Signing or committee issuing resolution.
