Celebrating 75 Years of Thailand-Cambodia Cooperation Advancing a Strategic Partnership

Thailand and Cambodia mark 75 years of diplomatic relations! Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to elevate their collaboration into a full-fledged “strategic partnership,” strengthening ties across economic, security, and social sectors.


Five Key Areas of Joint Progress

  1. Border Economy United –Developing special economic zones linking both sides, improving logistics efficiency, cutting costs, and boosting trade value to $10 billion by 2024.
  2. Seamless Security –Military and security agencies cooperate to combat cybercrime, address cross-border haze issues, and maintain peace along the border.
  3. Legal, Quality Labor –Thailand welcomes Cambodian workers through standardized channels, creating stable employment opportunities for both countries.
  4. Smooth Travel, Shared Cultures –Expanding tourism cooperation, opening joint travel routes, and stimulating grassroots economies.
  5. Sustainable Development –Thailand provides expertise in education and human resource development to help Cambodia build a strong foundation.

A New Direction in ASEAN

Thailand’s leadership calls for deeper economic integration within ASEAN and aims to position itself as a regional cooperation hub. Both nations reaffirm their commitment to “grow together, leaving no one behind,” using their 75-year relationship as a bridge to a shared future that benefits all levels, from citizens to policymakers.
