Visitors Invited to Join Countdown Celebrations “Nan: The Legacy of Love” in Nan Province

Both Thai and international tourists have been invited to join the countdown celebrations “Nan: The Legacy of Love” to experience the rich cultural heritage of Nan Province in the North and its cherished local way of life.

The event is taking place on Suriyaphong Road in Mueang Nan District on 29-31 December 2025. This is the first time for Nan to organize countdown celebrations on such a grand scale. The event is also meant to pay tribute to the late Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and to celebrate the designation of Nan as a Creative City in the field of Crafts and Folk Art by UNESCO in 2025.

It features many interesting activities, especially a light and sound show, drone multimedia, cultural performances, a food fair, and a bazaar of local products and souvenirs.

The theme of this event “The Legacy of Love,” is in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s compassion and love for the Thai people. Her Majesty’s legacy endures forever in the heart of the nation. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother first visited Nan Province in 1958.

Nan is famous not only for its natural beauty, in the mountains and forests, but also its rich cultural heritage of ethnic groups. It is a lively ancient city, with many places of interest, both natural and cultural, well worth visiting.

Nan had presented the Artisans–Community–Nature concept in its nomination for UNESCO Creative City status. The concept reflects Nan as a Living Old City, highlighting its rich heritage of traditional crafts and folk art, local wisdom, and cultural capital passed on from generation to generation.

This province is also noted for hand-woven textiles, basketry, and mural paintings, with well-preserved prehistoric archaeological discoveries. With its vision, Nan is striving to become the city of happiness and creativity.
