Thailand stands united! Recently, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), deployed the world-renowned "iRAP Robot" rescue team—10-time world champions—alongside advanced drones to assist in the aftermath of the State Audit Office building collapse in Chatuchak District. This effort showcases Thailand’s technological advancements in crisis response.
Three robots were deployed for the mission: a compact exploration robot capable of navigating tight spaces while measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide levels; a robotic arm designed to traverse complex terrains and generate precise 3D maps for rescue planning; and the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise drone, equipped with high-resolution cameras to scan damage and locate victims swiftly.
The Minister of MHESI emphasized that these innovations not only reduce risks for rescuers but also enhance the efficiency of saving lives in such intricate disaster scenarios. This reflects Thailand’s readiness to leverage technology for comprehensive societal benefit.
Additionally, KMUTNB has established a hotline to receive incident reports and deploy robots to other critical areas across the country. This collaboration not only alleviates suffering but also highlights Thailand’s innovative capabilities, proving to be a beacon of hope during challenging times.
