As the long New Year holidays approach, the Department of Highways (DOH) has prepared 39 free camping sites across the country, available to the public and tourists.
The department's Director-General, Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisarn, revealed that the department is supporting the Ministry of Transport's policy "H.N.Y. 2569 - Happiness of All, Network of Care, and Year of Safety."
This initiative aims to ensure public happiness across all dimensions, including economic growth, safety, international service standards, and promoting the country's economic, trade, investment, tourism, and security potential.
To support this, the department has set up 39 free camping sites across the country for people and tourists to rest overnight, with parking spaces available. These sites will be open from December 26, 2025, to January 5, 2026.
The free camping sites are divided into the following regions: 30 sites in the North, 4 sites in the Northeast, 4 sites in the Central region, and 1 site in the South.
The camping areas fall under the responsibility of highway offices, where staff will be available 24/7 to assist the public, providing amenities such as drinking water and restrooms, all at no charge.
