Congratulations to the First Thai and Asian Winner of The World’s Best Female Chef 2025 and Her Restaurant's Continued World Ranking Ascent

Chef Pam-Pichaya Suntornyanakij of POTONG, a Thai-Chinese fine dining restaurant, has won The World’s Best Female Chef 2025 award, becoming the first Thai and first Asian to receive this prestigious honor, announced in late March.

Chef Pam previously earned Asia’s Best Female Chef 2024 and is renowned for founding POTONG in Yaowarat. Her vision is to showcase the flavors and stories of Thai-Chinese descendants by transforming her family’s old Chinese pharmacy building into a restaurant.

Though open only five years, POTONG has gained international acclaim, featured in the Michelin Guide and consistently ranked in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants from 2023 to 2025. It climbed from 35th to 13th place in the latest ranking and was also listed in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants at 88th in 2023 and 57th in 2024.

Chef Pam’s dedication and talent are a source of pride for Thailand, elevating Thai cuisine on the global stage with distinction. The announcement of The World’s Best Restaurants 2025 will be made this June.
