The Dental Institute, Department of Medical Services, has introduced the “One-Day Crown” innovation, a procedure that allows patients to receive a dental crown in just one day. The process is fully digital-from 3D scanning and computer-aided design to automated milling of the crown-so patients can complete their treatment in a single visit, without the need for multiple appointments.
This innovation is ideal for those with teeth too damaged for a simple filling. It streamlines what used to be a multi-day process, eliminating the need for temporary crowns. Digital scanning replaces traditional impressions, reducing discomfort and increasing precision. Automated fabrication ensures each crown is strong, aesthetically pleasing, and tailored to the patient’s unique dental structure.
To date, more than 850 patients have benefited from this expedited crown service. Results have been overwhelmingly positive, with patients reporting satisfaction in terms of effectiveness, convenience, and the natural appearance of their new crowns. The procedure shortens treatment time, improves quality of life, and expands access to advanced, high-quality dental care.
