Elevating Cancer Treatment with Advanced Technology: Robot-Assisted Surgery Sets New Standards for Thai Medicine

Thailand is entering a new era in cancer treatment by integrating robot-assisted surgery into its medical practices. The Ministry of Public Health is leading the initiative to enhance Thai medical standards. Currently, cancer treatment has evolved significantly, with robotic surgery offering precision, fewer complications, smaller incisions, and faster recovery times. This technology features robotic arms that move in seven directions, mimicking a surgeon's hand movements, and utilizes 3D imaging.

The Department of Medical Services, under the Ministry of Public Health, has launched a project at Rajavithi Hospital to develop robot-assisted surgery for treating 100 cancer patients as a New Year's gift to the public in 2025. This initiative aims to provide modern medical services, ensuring precise treatments that improve patients' quality of life and enable them to return to their daily routines more quickly. The project will run from March 2025 to April 2026, or until the target is met. Participants must undergo a medical examination by a specialist before joining the program.

Thailand is not only advancing in medical treatment but is also poised to become a global hub for medical innovation.
