Princess Sirivannavari Opens the Exhibition “La Mode en Majesté" in Paris

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya on 25 May 2026 presided over the opening ceremony of the exhibition “La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity,” held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the French Republic.

The exhibition is organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris, the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (SACIT), and the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

Her Royal Highness cordially delivered opening remarks after Ms. Bénédicte Gady, Director of Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD) welcomed the attendees. The Princess and the members of the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, the diplomatic corps, and honorable guests visited all seven rooms of the exhibition, which were curated to convey narratives about the evolution of the Royal Thai Dress to the global stage through art, textile, and handicraft.

The Royal Wardrobe of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on display comprises more than 200 pieces of Her Majesty’s royal dresses, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and handicrafts from the SUPPORT Foundation under Her Majesty's royal patronage.

Thereafter, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow delivered remarks extolling the dedication of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in sustaining local Thai arts and crafts and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in inheriting the commitment on cultural heritage conservation, which has been advanced with a contemporary creative concept, during the specially-designed Thai-cuisine fine dining in honor of attending honorary guests.

“La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity” is being organized in commemoration of the 340th anniversary of first contact between Siam and France and the 170th anniversary of Thailand – the French Republic diplomatic relations. The objective is to continue a showcase of the delicate and meticulous characteristics of Thai cultural heritage and wisdom, including Thailand’s fashion evolution, on the international stage. This is the first time for the Royal Dress of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to be displayed abroad.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this collaboration between Thailand and the French Republic will lead to strengthening and sustaining people-to-people ties. In attendance were well-known celebrities from both sides, especially fashion trendsetters, designers, high-end brand executives, international media, and social influencers. The exhibition is open to the public until 1 November 2026.
