King and Queen of Thailand Visit "La Mode en Majesté: Haute Couture et Tradition à la Cour de Thaïlande" Exhibition in Paris

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand visited the exhibition La Mode en Majesté: Haute Couture et Tradition à la Cour de Thaïlande at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, at the invitation of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari.

Upon their arrival, Their Majesties were welcomed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari, together with the French Minister of Culture, Mrs. Catherine Pégard, and the President of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Mr. Lionel Sauvage.

Following a presentation on the exhibition by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari, Their Majesties proceeded to the exhibition galleries. The exhibition is divided into seven sections showcasing the unique cultural heritage of Thailand and France through royal attire, Chud Thai, Thai craftsmanship, the royal dresses of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, Thai silk, and the evolution of Thai dress from tradition to modernity.

The exhibition "La Mode en Majesté: Haute Couture et Tradition à la Cour de Thaïlande" is organized on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of Thailand–France diplomatic relations and the 340th anniversary of the first diplomatic contact between the Kingdom of Siam and France. It also promotes Thai silk on the international stage while supporting Thailand's effort to have Chud Thai inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
