Government Establishes Single Command Center for Nan Floods

The government has established a 24-hour single command center in Nan province to coordinate flood response and recovery operations, with Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat serving as incident commander. Yodchanan recently visited water-monitoring station N.1 in Nan’s capital district to assess conditions and oversee operations involving six ministries.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation will use GISTDA satellite data, the Check Nam application, and Cell Broadcast alerts to monitor conditions and warn residents. Boats and equipment will be positioned in high-risk areas, while a KA-32 helicopter will be available for evacuations and delivery of relief supplies. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will assist vulnerable residents, coordinate evacuations, and prepare shelters.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will deploy pumps and machinery, assist with livestock relocation, and provide animal feed and medical supplies. The Ministry of Labor has asked employers to consider allowing employees unable to reach work due to flooding to remain absent without the time being counted as leave, and affected businesses may seek low-interest loans for repairs.

The Ministry of Education may temporarily close schools where necessary and use educational facilities as shelters or assistance centers. Vocational teams will be prepared to repair damaged homes after conditions improve, while vocational kitchens will provide food and drinking water to communities.

The Ministry of Interior will oversee warnings and evacuations in high-risk areas while preparing personnel and equipment for recovery. Authorities plan to begin damage assessments, home repairs, and livelihood assistance immediately after the floodwaters recede, while the command center continues to coordinate operations around the clock.
