The Cabinet, during its meeting on 2 July 2024, acknowledged the decision by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) to grant the right for Thailand to host the International Horticultural Expo in 2029, known as “Korat Expo 2029.”
It approved the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to serve as the core agency and coordinate with all relevant agencies in organizing the expo in Nakhon Ratchasima. Locally known as Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima Province is located about 260 kilometers northeast of Bangkok. It serves as a gateway to the northeastern region.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives reported that the AIPH, during its Spring Meeting 2024 in Doha, Qatar, announced on 6 Match 2024 that Thailand was granted the right to host the Korat Expo 2029. It also suggested that preparations for this event should start as soon as possible for great efficiency.
The Korat Expo 2029 (level A1) will be held under the theme “Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future.” It aims to demonstrate Thailand’s agricultural development and technological and innovation advances in horticultural production and processing, as well as creating a balance between life and nature.
Another objective is to exchange knowledge and information about horticulture with participating countries. This will lead to the expansion of agricultural markets for Thailand, which is recognized as a strong agricultural and food base.
This A-1 level Korat Expo, also known as the World Horticultural Exhibition, is scheduled to run for 110 days from 10 November 2029 to 28 February 2030. It will take place on an area of 678 rai (271.2 acres) at Kok Nong Rangka in Thephalai Subdistrict, Khong District.
This event is expected to attract a great number of both Thai and international tourists, create more economic value for Thai agricultural products, and promote the favorable image of Thailand in the world community.
