Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, held a meeting with Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Discussions focused on regional and bilateral cooperation to enhance cross-border economic activity. Key agenda items included a proposal to exempt passport stamps at the border to facilitate cross-border travel, the construction of a second parallel bridge across the Sungai Kolok River to boost transnational trade and tourism, and the progress of road construction connecting Thailand's new Sadao Border Checkpoint and Malaysia's Bukit Kayu Hitam Border Checkpoint, which is currently underway in accordance with both countries' regulations.
Moreover, Thailand and Malaysia have agreed to jointly promote a regional tourism campaign titled "6 Countries, 1 Destination," aiming to connect and enhance tourism among Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar.
Building on 67 years of strong bilateral ties, Thailand and Malaysia are determined to further deepen their cooperation for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
