The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESRI) continues to drive forward national policies to develop a high-skilled workforce for the electric vehicle (EV) industry through the implementation of Sandbox-based training and education programs. These initiatives are designed to align higher education with real industry needs, supporting Thailand’s ambition to become a key EV manufacturing hub at both regional and global levels. By focusing on competency-based learning and future-ready skills, the programs enhance the country’s preparedness for rapid technological
transformation in the automotive sector.
The EV Sandbox programs serve as a strategic mechanism to integrate universities, research institutions, and industry partners through flexible curricula, non-degree learning pathways, and modular credit accumulation. This approach enables learners to upskill and reskill efficiently while ensuring that graduates possess practical expertise relevant to modern EV technologies. The initiative reflects the strong capacity of Thailand’s higher education system to respond to strategic industries and to produce quality human capital that supports national economic competitiveness and long-term industrial resilience.
Beyond workforce development, the initiative also reinforces Thailand’s soft power by positioning the country as a regional leader in clean technology education and innovation. The cultivation of skilled EV professionals with global perspectives, creativity, and strong professional culture enhances international confidence in Thailand’s human capital ecosystem. This contributes to a positive national image, attracts investment and partnerships, and supports the broader transition toward a green, innovation-driven economy, ensuring sustainable growth for Thailand’s EV industry in the years ahead.
