Government Praises “Lisa” for Being Good Role Model for Thai Youth

Deputy Government Spokesperson Rudklao Intawong Suwankiri has said that the Government praised Lalisa Manoban, better known as Lisa from the Blackpink girl group, for being a good role model for Thai youth. Her latest music video demonstrates her love for the homeland, as well as promoting Thailand’s “soft power,” tourism, and culture.

Mrs. Rudklao said that Lisa had released her first solo titled ROCKSTAR from LLOUD, her own record label. The ROCKSTAR music video was filmed in Yaowarat, or Bangkok’s Chinatown, and the old Oscar movie theater on Soi Phetchaburi 39 in Bangkok.

It also used a large team of dancers and supporting actors, including LGBTQIAN+ people, such as Dr. Bruce, Kchisara Sridakhot, the first runner-up of Miss Tiffany Thailand in 2023. The video provided a space for gender-diverse persons, emphasizing the Government’s intention to promote an equal society, as seen from its support for legalizing same-sex marriage.

Mrs. Rudklao said that what Lisa had done would help stimulate local tourism and attract her followers to pay greater attention to traveling in Thailand. This is considered an opportunity to increase the popularity of Thailand’s tourism.

Bangkok’s Chinatown, in particular, has now become a new check-in point for visitors to Thailand. It is an old business center, covering a large area around Yaowarat and Charoen Krung roads. This area is famous for its gold shops, restaurants, and food stalls offering numerous delicacies.

Mrs. Rudklao added that foreign film producers who are interested in shooting in Bangkok may contact the Bangkok Filmmaking Coordinator Center (BFMCC), which was established in October 2023 to facilitate filming permission in the public areas of Bangkok.
