The Ministry of Public Health is joining hands with Nakhon Ratchasima Province and its networks in northeastern Thailand in developing Nakhon Ratchasima, popularly known as Korat, as a wellness tourism center and upgrading medical and wellness tourism services in this province.
Deputy Minister of Public Health Santi Promphat made an inspection of Nakhon Ratchasima before the Cabinet retreat on 2 July 2024. He said that Nakhon Ratchasima has great potential for development into a wellness city because of its geographical location, climate, and local wisdom in terms of traditional Thai medicine, alternative medicine, and herbal plants.
The province also many spa houses, green health hotels, restaurants under the “Clean Food Good Taste Plus” project, workplaces certified for their standards of wellness, massage shops for health, and health establishments to accommodate medical and wellness tourists.
The medical and wellness tourism services will generate more employment, boost investment, and contribute to various related businesses in Nakhon Ratchasima, recognized as a gateway to northeastern Thailand.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin followed up on the progress of developing Nakhon Ratchasima into a city of “meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions,” or MICE.
He stated that the project would increase the potential of the northeastern economy and that Nakhon Ratchasima was suitable for serving as a MICE city.
The Prime Minister said that he had instructed the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) to accelerate carrying out the MICE city project. He said that the Government also has a policy to develop logistics to facilitate travel to Nakhon Ratchasima. which has fascinating traditions, charming hospitality, and beautiful natural scenery.
