It is held to celebrate Makha Bucha Day, the day when the Lord Buddha and 1,250 disciples spontaneously gathered at a temple in India, which is considered something of a miracle, and he delivered his fundamental teachings.

In addition to boosting the economy in Prachin Buri Province, the festival serves as an inspiration for kids and young people of all ages to focus on doing good deeds, raising awareness, and passing on the traditions, knowledge, and hospitality that make Thailand unique.

There are a number of religious events and exhibitions at the festival, including a pilgrimage with monks, paying homage to the relics, walking in a circle with a candle around the twin footprints, practicing dharma for offerings to the Buddha, touching academic exhibitions and worshiping tables, and experiencing the atmosphere of the Thai way of life market, where vendors sell Buddhist goods and activities and hold group prayer competitions and dharma lectures.
