Taxis increase prices – Large cars start at 40 baht 

     The Government Gazette website issued an announcement by the Ministry of Transport regarding the determination of passenger fare rates and other service charges for hired vehicles carrying no more than seven passengers registered in Bangkok, to be consistent with current economic and social conditions.

New taxi fare effective date

  • Notification of the Ministry of Transport: A new taxi fare rate will be in force from 13 January 2023 onwards

New fare rates

1. Large taxis, such as taxis that look like tri-section sedans, vans, tri-section cars, and tri-section vans:

    The first 1 kilometer distance is 40.00 baht;

  • Distance over 1 kilometer to the 10th kilometer, the rate is 6.50 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 10 kilometers to the 20th kilometer is 7.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 20 kilometers to the 40th kilometer is 8.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 40 kilometers to the 60th kilometer is 8.50 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 60 kilometers to the 80th kilometer is 9.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 80 kilometers, 10.50 baht per kilometer.

2. For small taxis, such as hired cars, in addition to item (1), the rates shall be the following:

    First 1 kilometer: 35.00 baht

  • Distance over 1 kilometer to 10th kilometer: 6.50 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 10 kilometers to the 20th kilometer: 7.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 20 kilometers to the 40th kilometer: 8.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 40 kilometers to the 60th kilometer: 8.50 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 60 kilometers to the 80th kilometer: 9.00 baht per kilometer;
  • Distance over 80 kilometers: 10.50 baht per kilometer.


       In addition, in the event that the vehicle under (1) or (2) is not moving or has to drive at a speed of not more than 6 kilometers per hour, the rate is 3.00 baht per minute


Additional service charge

  • An additional 20 baht service fee on top of the meter in the case of calling through the communication service center or electronic communication system. The service charges shall be charged in addition to the fare shown on the fare meter.
  • An additional 50 baht service fee on top of the meter in the case of hiring from Don Mueang Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport by a taxi waiting for passengers at the point specified for taxi hire.
