Best GI Sisaket Volcano Durian

Volcano Durian

Everyone used to eat durian, there are many varieties, but there is one durian that is known as the volcanic durian. That is Sisaket volcano durian that is different from durian from other places, so I want to invite you to try and taste it. The geographical indicator or GI for “Sisaket Volcano Durian” was announced by the Department of Intellectual Property in 2018. The texture of the durian, which is silky and smooth, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, sweet and delectable, and most importantly, the absence of a strong smell and the withered seeds give it a distinctive identity.

The name "Sisaket Volcano Durian" refers to the particular characteristics of the producing location, which is the soil that has decomposed from basalt and is cultivated in the former volcanic area around the Phanom Dong Rak mountain range. The soil is red, sticky, very well drained, contains high amounts of various nutrients needed by plants, and farmers use groundwater at a depth of more than 50-100 meters for fruit juice making durian taste good.

The province of Sisaket therefore has registered a patent for a geographical indication (Geoghaphical Indication: GI) because durian production areas of Si Sa Ket Province are Kantharalak District, Khun Han District, and Si Rattana District. It is an old volcanic area, so it is rich in various nutrients that make durian have a good taste and aroma. Consumers who have tasted it agree that it’s a different taste unlike anywhere else. Foreigners also accept it as a durian that is overtaking the curve and generating a lot of income for farmers.
