Thung Kula Rong-Hai jasmine rice is processed from light-sensitive aromatic paddy rice varieties, namely Khao Dawk Mali 105 and Kor Khor 15, which are grown in the Thung Kula Rong-Hai area in winter, which relies on rainwater as the main source. It can be planted once a year and harvested during cool, rain-free winters. According to conventional wisdom, the water must be drained around 10 days before to harvesting rice in order to ensure that the rice is of high quality, the grains are clear and hard, and the cooked rice is fragrant and tender. Prior to being approved by dealers and customers both locally and internationally, there is a standard that distinguishes the quality of jasmine rice produced in Thung Kula Rong Hai from that produced in other sources.

The Roi Et Provincial Office of Commerce teams up with the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Office of Commerce in 2022 to promote Thung Kula Rong Hai Hom Mali Rice, a GI product from the Roi Et Province, as one of 18 high-quality GI products to the global market. This collaboration fosters trade opportunities and raises the quality of community products as rice products with production standards.
