Health check-up expenses and health insurance for foreign workers and dependents

      Foreign workers who come to work in Thailand must undergo a medical examination and take out health insurance before being registered. The Ministry of Public Health has set the expenses for medical examination and health insurance for migrant workers and their dependents as follows:

Health check-up fee rates

• Foreign workers      500 baht/time/person.
• Dependents over 7 years but under 18 years old 500 baht/time/person.
• Dependents under 7 years old, exempt from health check-up fees, just check that the development is according to age, at the discretion of the examining physician.

Health insurance fee rates and coverage period   

 Foreign workers and their dependents aged over 7 years but not over 18 years old

• Two years coverage period, the health insurance fee is 3,200 baht/person;
• One year coverage period, the health insurance fee is 1,600 baht/person;
• Six months coverage period, the health insurance fee is 900 baht/person;                   
• Three months coverage period, the health insurance fee is 500 baht/person.

     Three months coverage health insurance is only for those insured under the Social Security Act, with pending rights.

      Children under 7 years old

• Two years of coverage, the health insurance fee 730 baht/person;
• One year of coverage, the health insurance fee is 365 baht/person.

      Foreigner

• General foreigners, one year of coverage, the health insurance fee 2,200 baht/person;
• Children under one year of coverage, the health insurance fee 365 baht/person.
