What documents are required for foreigners applying for a credit card in Thailand?

     Credit cards are financial products that are popular and meet people’s spending lifestyles today, because they are a good way to increase spending flexibility; there are also many benefits to choose from, such as points. In addition to Thai citizens, foreigners working in companies or conducting business in Thailand may apply for a credit card by presenting the following documentation:    

1. Copy of passport with an expiration date that is more than 6 months away;

2. Copy of bank account; most credit card issuers will request the last 3-6 months, and some banks may request both the salary account and the personal account;

3. Income certificate or salary slip for foreigners working as permanent employees, if applicable:

- Income certificates must be returned within two months from the date on the certificate;

- In the case of a salary slip, the most recent month’s salary slip must be submitted. Some banks will stipulate the minimum salary requirements for foreigners who can apply for a credit card; applicants who fall below the threshold may be denied.

 4. A copy of the work permit, which is a document that foreigners working in Thailand must submit together with other documents. Some banks will specify that the work permit must permit the person to work in the country for at least 2 years, and the expiration date, which must be not less than 3 months away;

5. Copy of certificate of commercial registration (In the case of a business owner only).

         Applying for a credit card in Thailand depends on the conditions of each bank, which will have different details.
