The Planning Division of the Department of Land Transport released the statistics on the number of newly registered vehicles classified according to fuel type (monthly) from January to October 2022. Out of 2,550,953, there were 15,423 newly registered vehicles with 100 % use of electricity or BEVs. However, if looking back at the data over the past 10 years, it was found that there had been an increase in the registration of electric vehicles in Thailand almost every year.
In 2021, there were a total of 5,889 electric vehicle registrations, compared to 15,423 units in 2022, an increase of almost 3 times which is likely to continue increasing in the future. This is due to higher oil prices in the market, and the government's tax reduction policy on electric vehicles to encourage the public to turn to vehicles that help reduce pollution in the city.
