Bangkok taxis increase fares

        Many people prefer to travel by taxi in Bangkok and some nearby provinces, but many people may be unaware that the Ministry of Transport has set a new taxi fare increase to reflect higher fuel prices and living costs.

        Taxi service rates for vehicles with no more than seven seats registered in the Bangkok area require the first 1 kilometer to be adjusted from 35 baht to 40 baht, which has been in effect since 13 January 2023.

Taxi service rates for vehicles with no more than seven seats are determined as follows:

  • Distance 1 km: First 40 baht;
  • Distance from 1 to 10 km: 6.50 baht per km;
  • Distance from 10 to 20 km: 7.00 baht per km;
  • Distance from 20 to 40 km: 8.00 baht per km;
  • Distance from 40 to 60 km: 8.50 baht per km;
  • Distance from 60 to 80 km: 9.00 baht per km;
  • Distance of 80 km or more: 10.50 baht per kilometer.

        In case the vehicle cannot move (because of a traffic jam or other reason) or cannot travel more than 6 km per hour, the rate is 3.00 baht per minute.

        In the case of hiring through a communication service center or electronic communication system, a service charge of 20 baht will be added to the fare.

        In the case of hiring a taxi that is waiting for passengers at the airport at a specific point (the official queue at Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airport), a service charge of 50 baht will be charged above the fare shown on the fare meter.
