NFE preparing a content framework in accordance with the new basic curriculum to support the Department of Learning Promotion

     The government places great importance on the development of the country's education system and considers it crucial in developing the skills and knowledge of the people dealing with this changing world.

     The Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education (NFE) is a government agency that plays a role in developing an education system for out-of-school individuals to elevate the average education level by applying the principles and concepts of non-formal education management.

     The Learning Promotion Act, B.E. 2566 (2023) was announced in the Royal Gazette on 19 March 2023, effective on 19 May 2023. The relevant agencies must accelerate the development of basic education to promote learning curriculum in 2023, because the Non-formal and Informal Education Promotion Act, B.E. 2551 (2008) and the use of non-formal education curriculum at the basic education B.E. 2551 have been terminated.

The preparation of the course content framework for the curriculum promoting learning at the basic education level, B.E. 2566, consists of eight subject groups:

  1. Thai language;
  2. Foreign languages (English);
  3. Mathematics;
  4. Science;
  5. Digital technology;
  6. Career skills;
  7. Health and arts;
  8. Social studies, history, and civic duty.

     The work includes creating a guide/ manual on the process of credit transfer evaluation, in collaboration with the Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology Education (IPST) and relevant government officials.

     The design and creation of the course content framework must take into account its practical application, the development of quality of life and society, current events, and changes in different societal contexts.

     Additionally, consideration must be given to the integration of life skills in the curriculum, and the content should be aligned with lifelong learning, self-development, and educational qualifications, as well as other learning modalities that can be applied to benefit the learners in their daily lives.

     The educational management of educational institutions under the Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education is aimed at benefiting the public and supporting the department in becoming the Department of Learning Promotion, to promote quality learning in the future.
