AI Governance Clinic (AIGC): Developing AI governance framework for electronic transactions

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that is being widely discussed and playing a role in the modern era. Globally, there is a focus and urgency to develop policies, set standards, and create AI Governance frameworks that guide the creative and effective use of AI in accordance with ethical and governance principles.

The development of digital services and AI Governance, particularly AI Governance, is identified as a critical strategy, and it is included in the "National AI Strategic Plan". This is seen as a push towards creating confidence in secure, reliable, and stable electronic transactions, as well as a crucial part to increase confidence for foreign investors in the long term.

The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), as the host, has been continuously promoting and overseeing the use of AI technology, which has led to the launch of the "AI Governance Clinic by ETDA (AIGC)". The clinic serves as a gathering point for knowledge and expertise in AI Governance from leading countries worldwide, pushing towards the implementation of AI use with joint governance.

The AIGC operates by driving four dimensions:

  • Dimension 1: Development of AI Governance framework for electronic transactions that is appropriate for Thai context and aligns with global policy trends.
  • Dimension 2: Providing consultation on AI Governance policy, application of AI for electronic transactions to all sectors.
  • Dimension 3: Development and dissemination of data, knowledge, research results related to the application of AI with governance.
  • Dimension 4: Building a network of experts both domestically and internationally to exchange academic information, technology innovations related to AI Governance.

Initially, the AIGC will focus on the medical and public health group, as it is a group that uses AI technology for diagnosis, screening, and patient treatment. It aims to prevent impacts and risks that may arise from the use of technology in the future.
