"THAIWATER": An application to monitor and forecast water situations
"ThaiWater" is a mobile application that presents an overview of the country and shows information related to water in categories such as rain information, water levels, and water situations in dams 24 hours a day.
It also shows both current and forecast situations, such as rain, wind speed forecasts 7 days in advance, and wave and wind forecasts using data from the National Hydroinformatics and Climate Data Center. Users at a scene can report the situation to share news through the application with other users. They are able to set up a favorite location (province) to track specific information.
It is well known that during heavy and prolonged rain, especially in large metropolitan areas such as Bangkok and its vicinity, there will be flooding problems in many areas. It takes a long time for some areas to drain water. After flooding, there are numerous problems, such as heavy traffic and damaged houses and property.
The ThaiWater application is a helpful tool for use when traveling to avoid flooded roads. This application can show data in real time, as it collects weather and water data from more than 50 public and private organizations. It also shows a summary of the overall situation in the country, in provinces, and details of other places. Users can add "Favorite places" to monitor the situation in those provinces.
In addition, users can report the situation if something is happening where they are by sending photos and texts to the system in order to let other users get the information, as well.
