Today’s industries are focused on resolving global warming issues. Their new focus is due to greenhouse gas emissions as well as the need to boost competitiveness in the ASEAN market and on the global trade stage. As a result, the government has directed relevant agencies to investigate ways to develop, promote, and encourage factory operators to pay attention to the environment and transition to a low-carbon society in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the manufacturing process.
Samut Prakan Province is considered a pilot province in developing low-carbon projects in order to promote and develop industries in the eco-industrial city area, owing to its status as a province with many industrial factories, including food, leather, textile, plastic, and chemical industries.
As a result, business people must adapt to environmental measures, particularly attempting to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions of products (the carbon footprint) caused by the procurement of raw materials, production, transportation, and the degradation process of the product, and then increasing production using clean energy.
In many places, industrial factories are currently participating in the project and receiving carbon footprint certificates (Carbon Label Award). Entrepreneurs can reduce production costs in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by improving production efficiency, reducing the use of fossil fuels, increasing the use of renewable energy, and reducing waste in the manufacturing process.
