How does the “Green Label” create business opportunities for foreign investors?

Thailand is another country that has joined the world community in declaring its intention to jointly prevent the global average temperature from increasing by more than 1.5-2 degrees Celsius by 2100 (B.E. 2643). This declaration took place at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP 27, in Sharm el-Sheikh, the Arab Republic of Egypt, on 3-18 November 2022.

Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, as head of the Thai delegation, stated the country's intention to improve the long-term strategy of Thailand's low-emission development by setting goals to reduce carbon dioxide and GHG emissions from our maximum of 388 million tons per year down to 120 million tons per year by 2050, and to reach zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2065 in all branches.

When we consider the progress of policies to solve global warming problems in Thailand, we discover many measures to reduce global warming, one of which is the Green Label project for products of domestic and foreign manufacturers. Members of this project have the goal of reducing their impact on the environment, and they encourage other manufacturers to speed up their adjustments and keep up with changing global trends, which is also a way to give consumers more choices. Businesses that can keep up with the pace of change will receive long-term returns.

With this in mind, if a person or juristic person registered in Thailand who is a manufacturer, importer, or distributor of goods wishes to apply for permission to use the Green Label mark, please contact the Thailand Environment Institute or see details on the website www.tei.or.th. If they are fully qualified, they will be eligible to display the Green Label, in line with the selected program, 1 year or 3 years. This is another good investment option today, as part of the effort to reduce global warming, which is caused by our products and the processes that take place at every stage.
