Changing Contact Location and Interest-Receiving Account - For Individuals

Investing in bonds issued by the government or private sector is a way to borrow money from the general public, promising to pay interest over a defined period. The interest payment can be done in two ways:

  1. Transferring the money to a deposit account specified by the bondholder (except for special savings accounts and fixed deposit accounts)
  2. Deducting withholding tax at the rate specified in the Revenue Code, such as 15% for individuals and 1% for limited companies, and sending a withholding tax certificate and interest remittance slip to the bondholder by post before the interest payment due date.

Bondholders who are individuals and wish to change their contact location or the account to receive the bond interest can apply for registration/update of their records. They should sign in a way that matches the signature provided to the Bank of Thailand and attach supporting documents for their application, as follows:

Documents for consideration:

  1. National ID card (If submitting documents by post, send a copy certified by the card owner)
  2. Government or state organization employee ID card, issued by the employing agency, and must include the national ID number (If submitting documents by post, send a copy certified by the card owner)
  3. Passport, or a foreigner certificate can be used if the applicant is a foreigner (If submitting documents by post, send a copy certified by the passport owner)
  4. Application to register/update records
  5. First page of the savings/current account passbook (only for changing the interest-receiving account) with a certified copy signed by the authorized signatory

The entire process for changing the contact location and interest-receiving account for individuals takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on several factors such as the completeness and correctness of the documents, the inspector's consideration, and the time taken to correct the application. Once the entire process is complete, the result will be immediately notified to the applicant at the agency. In the case of submitting the application by post, the result will be notified within 7 days from the completion of the review, and no fee is required.
