Issuance of Certification for Non-GMO Crops or Crop Products

According to the Department of Agriculture's announcement on the 2001 certification of non-genetically modified (non-GMO) crops or crop products in and the 2009 2nd revision, anyone who wishes the Department of Agriculture to certify that their crop or crop product is not genetically modified should submit a request using the form Sor Tor Chor 1-1. The certification process includes a scientific analysis which takes no longer than 12 business days, counting from the day the laboratory receives the crop or crop product samples. If additional analysis is required, the laboratory will notify the applicant.

After passing the laboratory analysis process for non-GMO certification, you can submit a request for the issuance of a non-GMO crop or crop product certificate. The certificate issuance process takes 2 business days. If officers have any doubts about the submitted evidence, they can request further clarification from the applicant. The process timeline starts counting from when the officers have checked and confirmed that all documents are complete and correct according to the guidelines in the “citizen's manual.”

The necessary documents for the application are as follows:

  1. National ID card (1 original copy)
  2. Corporate certificate (1 original copy), issued no more than 6 months ago
  3. Laboratory analysis results (1 original copy), certifying that the crop or crop product is not genetically modified
  4. Request form for a non-GMO crop or crop product certificate (Sor Tor Chor 1-1/1) (1 original copy)
  5. Application form for non-GMO crop or crop product certificate (Non-GMOs) (Sor Tor Chor 1-1/2) (1 original copy)
  6. Power of attorney (1 original copy)

When all the above-mentioned documents are ready, you can personally visit the Genetic Modification and Microorganism Inspection Development Group, located at the Biological Technology Research and Development Office, Department of Agriculture, 50 Phahonyothin Road, Lat Yao Subdistrict, Chatuchak District, Bangkok 10900.

Alternatively, you can also submit your request via email at klangna_gmo@hotmail.com during official holidays.
