Criteria and Fees for Application to Change the Sailing Zone

The principle of the sailing zone involves the demarcation of areas permitted for navigation. The sailing zone is specified in the ship license. If there is a modification or change in this stipulation, the ship's owner or their legal representative must submit a petition to change this detail to the registrar, accompanied by supporting documents, according to the 2012 regulation of the Harbor Department regarding the criteria and procedures relating to the Thai Ship Registry and the Use of Ships Section 92. Violators of the conditions or provisions of the ship license may be subject to a fine ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 baht, as per the 1913 Thai Navigable Waters Act Section 175.

The steps for changing the sailing zone as determined by the Harbor Department are as follows:

  1. Document Verification - The customer submits the request, then the officer checks the supporting documents. This process takes about 5 minutes.
  2. Document Review - The officer collects the fee, records the change of the sailing zone, scans the supporting documents into the ship registry database, and prints the changes in the ship license. This process takes about 30 minutes.
  3. The ship registrar signs the document. This process takes about 5 minutes.

The fee for applying to change the sailing zone is as follows: For sea-going ships, the fee is 100 baht per time. For other types of ships not used for sea navigation, the fee is 50 baht per time. Payments can be made through a payment machine that accepts debit cards, credit cards, payments via QR Code, or prepaid cards.
