Criteria and Supporting Documents for Changing the Type of Vessel

     The type of vessel is classified according to the functional features. Knowing the type of vessel is required to determine the ship’s license, or Thai ship registration (in case of registering as Thai vessel). If there is a change in such requirements, the person holding ownership of the vessel, or their legal representative must submit the application to the registrar to change the vessel type, together with supporting documents, specified by the Regulation of the Port Authority on the criteria and practices relating to the Thai vessel registration and the ship’s license, B.E. 2555 (2012), Clause 92. Any person using the vessel in violation of the specification in the ship’s license is liable to a fine ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 baht under the Thai Sea Navigation Act, B.E. 2456 (1913), Section 175.

The supporting documents for changing the type of vessel are as follows:

  1. Identification card, in the case of an ordinary person;
  2. Alien certificate;
  3. Passport;
  4. Company affidavit with a copy of identification card or passport of the authorized person;
  5. Identification card of the head of government agency or state enterprise;
  6. Application Form Kor.
  7. Ship’s license;
  8. Thai vessel registration;
  9. Certificate of survey (Form Tor Ror 20-1 Kor);
  10. Letter of delegation/ authorization of government agency or state enterprise for any person to act on their behalf, with identification card of the delegated or authorized person;
  11. Power of attorney, with identification card of the authorized person and identity document of the attorney.

Note: All copies of documents must be certified with signatures.
