Procedures and channels for applying for permission to shoot foreign films in National Parks in the case of short-term filming

     After the relaxation of the COVID-19 measures and the reopening of the country to tourists, more foreign tourists are returning to visit Thailand once again. It is a golden opportunity for the sluggish tourism business to recover. In addition to the bright tourism business, foreign film production is another source of the country’s revenue. Foreign film crews with hundreds of people and equipment enter Thailand to capture the beautiful atmosphere of Thailand’s unique nature, recognized at the international level.

     Those who wish to shoot foreign films in Thailand, especially in national parks for a short period, are required to follow the procedures prescribed by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation, as well as document preparation and fees. The process, duration of operation, and operation channel are detailed as follows:

     1. The applicant shall notify the official and request a receipt and confirmation form – (1 hour);

     2. The officer examines the completeness and accuracy of all documents and evidence and signs to register the application when the documents are complete and correct (5 hours);

     3. The officer considers whether such filming permission has content and format that is not contrary to the Thailand National Parks Act, B.E. 2562 (2019) and other related legislations without damaging natural resources and the environment, as well as not being contrary to good morals (1 working day);

     4. The permit is prepared and proposed to the authorized person (1 working day);
