Registration fees for invention patents

     The purpose of registering a patent is to provide legal protection for inventions that are being used or have useful applications. Therefore, those who wish to register for a patent must prepare the documents specified by the Department of Intellectual Property and the fees associated with the patenting process. The fees are as follows:

  1. Fee for application for a new invention patent: 500 baht;
  2. Fee for the publication of a patent: 250 baht;
  3. Fee for requesting for examination of patent: 250 baht (in this case, the process can be completed within 5 years from the date of publication);
  4. Fee for registering a patent: 500 baht;
  5. Fee for requesting amendments of application:  50 baht. This fee shall be paid when the applicant amends or adds supplementary documents. When the official considers the application and finds a correctable defect, the applicant must amend it according to the officer's instructions;
  6. Fee for opposition to the grant of a patent:  250 baht. This fee shall be paid by anyone who has a stake in the matter or believes they have a better right to the patent than the applicant and wishes to oppose the application. The opposition form must be applied within 90 days of the publication date;
  7. Fee for requesting to change the type of patent: 100 baht. This fee is applicable when changing a request for an invention patent to a petty patent;
  8. Fee for other requests: 50 baht (if a fee is not specified for that particular request, this fee rate will be used instead).
