Support documents for international invention patent registration (PCT)

     For those who wish to apply for an international invention patent (PCT) to the Patent Division, Department of Intellectual Property, the total processing time will be 50 months and 111 days. The applicant must prepare the required documentation for filing as follows:

  1. Power of attorney with notary stamp;
  2. Registration certificate as the representative of the patent owner or ID card as the representative of the patent owner;
  3. A document indicating the right or status to apply for a patent or petty patent;
  4. National ID card;
  5. Passport.  In case the applicant of the patent does not reside in the Kingdom of Thailand, they must authorize a patent agent/ patent attorney. In this regard, the power of attorney shall be done inside the Kingdom of Thailand;
  6. Certificate of juristic person if the 13-digit business registration number is not specified in the application form, and a copy of the certificate issued not more than 6 months from the date of issuance of the certificate. If the juristic person number is specified in the application form, no document copy is needed as the officer can retrieve information from the Department of Business Development;
  7. Translation of the international application;
  8. International application publication;
  9. International search report and/or written opinion of the international search authority and/or international preliminary report on patentability;
  10. Domestic application form (Form Sor Por/ Or Sor Por/ 001-Kor (PCT));
  11. Request for the review of international application consideration result (Form Sor Por/ Or Sor Por/ 0012-Kor (PCT));
  12. Request for consideration before 30 months.
