Customs clearance for import by sea transport: Documentation for registration

      Sea transport is a preferred choice for import-export enterprises, since it is suitable for large, bulky, and heavy products. Sea freight is also cheaper than other kinds of transport. An enterprise that would like to import or export by sea shipment must strictly comply with the Customs laws and regulations.

     At present, an electronic system has been developed to facilitate enterprises and use for Customs clearance (the TCS system). A registered enterprise or importer can perform Customs clearance themselves or via Service Counter or Customs Service at import-export ports.

 Required documents for registration in the TCS system

  1. A request form to be a Customs broker (according to Customs standard);
  2. ID card;
  3. A copy of house registration;
  4. Tax payer card or a receipt of personal income tax payment;
  5. A training certificate of an authorized Customs broker, certified by the Customs Academy or other associations certified by Customs, or a training certificate of a Customs specialist certified by the Custom Academy;
  6. A certificate of employment by a Customs broker, except for a person who has a certificate of a Custom clearance specialist or assistant for a Customs clearance specialist that is certified and tested by the Customs Academy, in accordance with Customs announcement no. 13/2549 of 31 December B.E. 2551;
  7. A 1-inch neutral face photo (not older than six months);
  8. A copy of documents 2 through 5, with signature for verification.

     The application form can be submitted at the Registration and Special Privileges section, Customs Standard Procedures and Valuation Division, or at Customs Service or Custom Station. The license will be valid for three years.
