Mutelu Community Tourism: Mamod at the Wat Chet Samian Community in Ratchaburi

The ancient Chet Samian community, more than a hundred years old, is located in Photharam District. It is filled with stories, legends, and lifestyles that are fascinating. This used to be an important frontier town, which led to the establishment of many communities on both sides of the Maeklong River. These communities produced and bore fruits of a mixed culture, filled with charm from four ethnic groups.

This diversity has become an allure that attracts many tourists who appreciate history, art, and local culture, especially ways of life connected with beliefs, faith, and supernatural phenomena. Currently, the Chet Samian community has become a tourist attraction that conserves over a hundred-year-old wooden row houses located in the market excellently, which has become the market's distinctive character.

This community is a gathering of people from various ethnic groups, especially Khmer people who have settled and lived a distinct lifestyle, especially in their belief in supernatural powers. They call it the 'Ghost Head' or 'Village Shaman' who paves the way for fortune and prosperity for those who respect them in the community to this day. This is done through Mamod dancing or Mother Witch dancing, a ceremony to worship the Ghost Head. The locals believe that it will protect and bring good luck. Nowadays, this is open for tourists to experience, whether in the form of a ceremony to exorcise, treat illnesses, pave the way for good luck and fortune according to belief, or in the form of tourism activities, such as visiting the old market, the museum, open to tourists throughout the year.
