Application for receiving welfare funds and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities

     Listed below are details of the criteria and qualifications for applying for welfare funds and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, available for eligible individuals:

  • Must be a registered disabled person in accordance with the Disabilities Empowerment Act, BE 2550 (2007) and its Amendment (No. 2), BE 2556 (2013), who is facing difficulties due to living alone, a lack of family support, or the family in need or is having problems. For example, the head of the family is sick, disabled, and unemployed, which affects the care of the disabled person. Assistance can be provided in the form of goods or cash (not to exceed 3,000 baht per occasion and a maximum of 3 times per year).

       The location to apply for the funds is the Disability Service Centers found across the country (76 provinces) and in Bangkok. The required documents for the application consist of the following:

  • The disabled person’s identification card or certificate of disability from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security;
  • The bank book for the banking account; 
  • A copy of the attorney's ID card;
  • A Power of Attorney letter (in case someone else is acting on behalf of the applicant);
  • Other documents, such as evidence of name changes.

Steps for disbursing disability compensation and rehabilitation:

  1. Submitting an application and verifying the information provided;
  2. Conducting a home visit;
  3. The committee will consider the case and approve the funds if the documentation is approved. If not, an explanation will be provided to the person with the disability;
  4. Transferring the funds to the designated account;
  5. Recording the information and following up on the assistance provided over a period of time.
