Foreigner’s notification of staying in Thailand longer than 90 days

A foreigner who is allowed to stay in Thailand temporarily and has stayed over must notify his/her residence to immigration officer every 90 days at any Immigration Bureau in his/her area.

Procedure and notification can  vary: the foreigner makes the notification in person, or the foreigner authorizes another person to make the notification, or the foreigner makes the notification by registered mail or online.

          - Supporting documents in cases when the foreigner makes the notification in person are as follows:
Passport, departure card TM.6, previous notification of staying over 90 days (if any), and a completely filled in and signed notification form TM.47.

-The foreigner staying in Bangkok is able to submit the documents in person or may assign another person to submit the documents at the Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5th December, B.E. 2550 (2007), Building B (2nd floor on the south side) Chaengwattana Road, Thung Song Hong Sub-district, Lak Si District, Bangkok.

          - If the foreigner makes the notification by registered mail, the supporting documents are as follows: copy of passport page where the passport image and personal information are shown, a copy of the latest arrival/ departure card TM.6 (front and back), previous notification of staying over 90 days (if any), completely filled in and signed notification form TM.47, an envelope with a 10-baht stamp affixed and the return address of the foreigner so that the officer in charge is able to send back the lower part of form TM.47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notification of staying over 90 days. All the documents must be sent by registered mail 15 days prior to the set period of notification, and the receipt of the registration kept by the foreigner must be sent to the Immigration Bureau in his/her area.

          - However, the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days is in no way equivalent to a visa extension. Failure to notify the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period is subject to a fine of 2,000 baht. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, a fine of 5,000 baht will be collected. If a foreigner leaves the Kingdom and re-enters, the day count starts at 0 in every case.
