Launch of "Thailand Winter Festivals" - A Major Campaign to Attract Tourists and Boost Year-End Economy

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra presided over the launch of the "Thailand Winter Festivals" campaign, a major year-end tourism event for 2024, on October 29. The campaign aims to establish Thailand as a global festival hub by uniting efforts between the public and private sectors.

This campaign includes significant winter festivals, such as Loy Krathong, Yi Peng, Christmas celebrations, and New Year's Eve festivities. It also features music, sports, food, and cultural activities to create a vibrant atmosphere and attract both domestic and international tourists during Thailand's peak tourism season.

Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the "Amazing Thailand Diwali Festival Bangkok 2024" along the Ong Ang Canal in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. This marks the third year of the festival, highlighted by:

  • Developing the Phahurat area and Ong Ang Canal into Thailand's first "Little India."
  • Cultural performances in Bollywood style and acts from India.
  • Ceremonial worship of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi for good fortune.
  • Showcasing dishes from renowned Indian restaurants.
  • An Indian-themed marketplace.

The Diwali Festival is part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between Thailand and India. It reflects the government's vision to use cultural dimensions as a bridge for international relations and to stimulate the local tourism economy.
