Thailand Expands Free Trade Agreements Exports Surpass $15 Billion Opening New Business Opportunities Worldwide

From January to February 2025, Thailand leveraged Free Trade Agreement (FTA) benefits totaling $15.09 billion, accounting for 81.36% of exports eligible for preferential treatment—an increase of 24.11% compared to the same period last year.


The top 5 FTAs by usage value were

  1. ATIGA (ASEAN) at $5.30 billion
  2. ACFTA (ASEAN-China) at $3.16 billion
  3. AIFTA (ASEAN-India) at $3.21 billion
  4. JTEPA (Thailand-Japan) at $1.03 billion
  5. TAFTA (Thailand-Australia) at $895 million

Leading export products using FTA benefits included:

  1. Semi-processed platinum or powder
  2. Diesel vehicles under 5 tons
  3. Other types of platinum
  4. Synthetic rubber blended with natural rubber
  5. Cane sugar

Ongoing FTA negotiations with countries like Sri Lanka, EFTA nations, and Bhutan aim to open new markets and reduce reliance on existing ones. These agreements are key tools to boost Thailand’s competitiveness, lower costs, and expand global trade opportunities steadily for Thai businesses.
