Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, the Minister of Transport, has revealed six key policies aimed at positioning Thailand as a regional transportation hub. These policies are designed to improve the quality of life for citizens and drive sustainable economic growth.
6 Key Policies of the Ministry of Transport
- 20 Baht Flat Fare for All Electric Trains: Aims to reduce transportation costs for the public, increase the number of public transport users, and stimulate the economy. Initially applied to the Red and Purple lines, with plans to expand to other lines in the future.
- Accelerating Land Transport Projects: Aims to enhance the efficiency of the land transport system and ensure nationwide connectivity. Major projects include the construction of Rama II Road, M6, and M81 motorways.
- Connecting Transport with Neighboring Countries: Aims to strengthen relationships with neighboring countries and promote trade and investment. A key project is the construction of the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.
- Developing Water Transport Systems: Aims to boost the efficiency of water transport and promote tourism. Major projects include the development of smart ports and cruise ports.
- Airport Development: Aims to elevate Suvarnabhumi Airport to a global aviation hub with modern facilities and expand regional airports.
- Enhancing Safety Standards: Aims to increase safety in the transportation system, with measures such as contractor safety booklets to oversee quality and safety.
