Excise Department Launches "One Community, One Excise" Project to Promote Local Liquor to International Markets

The Deputy Minister of Finance has announced the launch of the "One Community, One Excise Champion" project, which focuses on supporting local liquor producers and boosting the community economy by using excise tax as a development tool.

The five  main pillars of the project include :

  1. Promotion of Community Liquor Standards : Improving the quality of liquor to gain international acceptance.
  2. Support for Green Economic Growth : Enhancing competitiveness while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Skill Development and Access to Funding : Enhancing knowledge in marketing and production for entrepreneurs.
  4. Building Cooperation Between Communities and the State : Supporting collaboration to enhance capacity.
  5. Driving Soft Power : Promoting Thai culture through OTOP products by pairing them with local cuisine.

This project is expected to increase income and create sustainability for Thai communities. Additionally, it creates opportunities for competition in the global market, especially in the liquor and food industries. The reduction of the local fermented liquor tax rate from 10% to 0% helps lower costs for entrepreneurs, thereby increasing competitiveness. This initiative is vital for the community economy and creating a favorable business environment, enabling entrepreneurs to access funding and sustainable development approaches, and improving the image of Thai products in the international market.
