Thailand Prepares for Earthquake Monitoring Collaborative Efforts to Prevent and Mitigate Disaster Risks

Following the 8.2-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, 2025, Thai government agencies are working together to protect lives and swiftly restore affected areas with precision and efficiency.

The Prime Minister has instructed NBT to act as the central hub for 24-hour communication across all channels. Coordination focuses on immediate disaster warnings, building safety inspections, and mobilizing private sector resources to ensure accurate information reaches the public effectively.

Unified Measures to Reduce Disaster Risks:

  • The National Police Chief has deployed officers nationwide to assist victims immediately, while teams are ensuring safety and providing support.
  • Bangkok Governor has established a special command center, mobilizing medical and rescue teams for rapid response in all scenarios.
  • Airports of Thailand (AOT) have inspected six airports nationwide, confirming their structural integrity and maintaining normal operations for safe travel.
  • The Ministry of Public Health has opened emergency operation centers in risk areas, equipped with medical teams, supplies, and ambulances to safeguard public health comprehensively.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is providing multilingual updates on disaster information to assist foreign nationals in Thailand promptly.

This collaborative approach reflects the philosophy of “Prevention, Rapid Assistance, and Sustainable Recovery,” supported by real-time disaster monitoring systems and in-depth risk assessments to minimize impacts on lives and property—because every life matters.
