Accelerating Development of Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 Creating Sustainable Economic Opportunities for Thailand

Thailand is making history with the Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 project, now 67% complete, with the deep-sea F1 terminal set to open by November 2025. This expansion will accommodate mega container ships with a capacity of 20,000 TEUs, featuring the fastest and most precise automated cargo handling system in ASEAN.


Key achievements so far:

  • Increased container handling capacity to 18.1 million TEUs per year, up from 11 million

  • Reduced transport time from the port to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to under 24 hours via double-track rail and smart roads

  • Attracted global logistics giants like Maersk and CMA CGM to establish operations in Thailand

What this means for the Thai economy:

  • Creation of 100,000 quality jobs in the EEC, from engineers to local workers

  • Cut agricultural export costs by 30%, boosting Thai farmers’ competitiveness worldwide
