How Should International Students Prepare When Applying for a Student Visa in Thailand?

Visa Application for International Students
To apply for a visa, international students must obtain a Non-Immigrant ED Visa to study in Thailand. The application must be submitted to the Thai embassy or consulate before traveling to Thailand.

Documents Required :

  • Visa application form
  • Passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining
  • Two recent full-face photographs (4 x 6 cm)
  • Acceptance letter from MUIC
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources as specified by the Thai embassy

Each entry visa allows a stay in Thailand for 90 days. If students wish to extend their visa, they can submit documents to request an extension to cover their entire period of study.

Visa Extension
Students can extend their student visa before its expiration by submitting the following documents:

  • Application form for permission to stay in the Kingdom temporarily (TM.7)
  • Notification form of the residence of an alien for the householder, owner, or possessor of the residence (TM.30)
  • Certificate from MUIC (in Thai)
  • Copy of passport
  • Two recent full-face photographs (4 x 6 cm, taken within the last 6 months)
  • Tuition fee receipt and transcript
  • Visa extension fee of 1,900 Baht

If the visa is about to expire while staying in Thailand, students must inform the student exchange office at least two weeks before the expiration date to allow enough time for the preparation of necessary documents and signatures from the college administration. Visa applications must be submitted in person at the immigration office.

Students can check the immigration office website for additional details and inquire about any new procedures or changes. They can also ask the student exchange office for current visa information or visit: http://www.immigration.go.th/
