Good news for those in remote areas! Air emergency medical services are now prepared to pilot operations in five major provinces to assist critically ill patients, focusing on areas with aviation bases: Bangkok, Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Surat Thani (Koh Samui). This initiative aims to enhance rapid access to emergency medical care, reducing fatalities in life-threatening situations that require urgent treatment, particularly for stroke and heart attack cases, two of the leading causes of death. The Emergency Medical Committee (EMC) has recognized the need to address delays and shortages in helicopter support for patients. The private sector approves support for aerial operations in these key regions, with plans to expand to two additional provinces per region.
This new step in emergency medical care not only increases access to emergency services but also reduces mortality rates while ensuring the availability of equipment and personnel to provide care across all areas. Join in building healthcare equity and strengthening emergency medical care across Thailand!
