Travel Calendar (March) – Thao Suranaree Victory Day Celebration, Nakhon Ratchasima

        ​ The Thao Suranaree Monument, Suan Suranaree (Suan Rak), in Korat People’s Memorial Park, the moat, the courtyard in front of the Nakhon Ratchasima City Hall, and Ratchadamnoen Road will all play host to the Thao Suranaree Victory Day Celebration, in Nakhon Ratchasima, from 23 March to 3 April 2023.

        ​ Celebrations of Thao Suranaree Victory Day are held annually to honor Ya Mo, also known as Thao Suranaree, who rallied the Thai people and led them to victory over the Vientiane army in 1826, saving Nakhon Ratchasima in the process. Honoring Thao Suranaree, the heroine of Nakhon Ratchasima and Thai people across the country, is also about preserving local traditions, culture, wisdom, and identity. The duration of this event is precisely 12 days and 12 nights.

        Everyone attending the event will find a variety of activities, whether it is the ceremony to pay homage to Thao Suranaree’s ashes, the torch inviting ceremony, or the opening ceremony from Korat women from four corners of the city. The ultimate parade, with five processions, will be held under the motto “City of brave women Korat Dee Mee Silk, Prasat Hin, Din Dan Kwian.” Other activities and events include the beauty of worshiping the Thao Suranaree Monument, the Red Cross Fair, the silk fashion walk, exhibitions of various government agencies, activities showing the history of Korat, history and heroic deeds of Thao Suranaree, Korat music exhibition, various famous restaurants of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, distribution of community products (OTOP) and products from entrepreneurs in Nakhon Ratchasima municipality, and entertaining performances from famous artists.
