The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the Amazing Thailand Culinary City project to elevate and globalize Thai cuisine's prestige and value. This project aims to foster an understanding of gastronomy tourism under the concept of the BCG economy, composed of the main components “AGFEC” - Agriculture, Gastronomy (food culture), Food Safety, Experience (value through sensory experience), and Creative Entrepreneurship.
The Amazing Thailand Culinary City event is organized for food tourism entrepreneurs and those passionate about gastronomy tourism. The event features a variety of food from numerous vendors, discussions from renowned figures in the food industry, exhibitions imparting knowledge about Thai food, and exhibitions introducing local ingredients and Thai wisdom from each region. There is also a display of "Hidden Dishes" from the five regions and a workshop teaching how to make distinctive Thai desserts from each region. These activities take place in Bangkok and four other provinces: Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Phuket, and Chanthaburi. This initiative is seen as an elevation and value creation of Thai cuisine on a global stage, leading to regional economic development and promoting sustainable gastronomy tourism.
